A tour to the waterfalls of the Murmansk Region

We invite you on a thrilling journey through the western part of the Murmansk Region — to the place where waterfalls roar and the forests are full of berries and mushrooms, like a true northern garden. This route follows the road leading to the Norwegian border and combines stunning natural scenery, historical depth and rare encounters with wildlife.

🔹 We will see two picturesque waterfalls — on the Ura and Titovka rivers. Their turbulent flow and pristine power will not leave you indifferent.
🔹 We will walk along the bank of the Zapadnaya Litsa river, where with a bit of luck you can watch wild salmon leap into the air as they clear the rapids.
🔹 We will visit sites of military glory — exploring the surviving German defensive fortifications from the Great Patriotic War (WWII).

This is a comfortable tour by car along the road towards Norway, where drives between locations alternate with walks to the waterfalls and sites of military glory.
Part of the route runs along a forest trail and slopes, so comfortable footwear and a moderate level of fitness matter. No special equipment is required, but the walks to the waterfalls will call for a little stamina.

Good to know
A bottle of water, sunglasses and sunscreen, and a charged phone or camera — the views will be stunning! In summer be sure to bring insect repellent or spray (mosquitoes and midges are possible along the route), as well as a warm layer of clothing in case the weather turns cool.
Be sure to wear comfortable shoes — part of the route runs along a forest trail and slopes. Dress for the weather: it is a good idea to bring a windbreaker or raincoat in case the weather changes. The weather in the North is changeable, and even in summer it can be cool (from +10 to +20 °C, especially near the sea and in the mountains) — bring a warm layer just in case.

The route is suitable for people with a moderate level of fitness. The walk to the waterfalls requires no special equipment, but it does call for some stamina — part of the way runs along a forest trail and slopes. We drive right up to every location, so there are no long treks.

We went to Kirovsk with the Aurora Trip team in September. We loved everything. The stories were fascinating and we learned a lot of new things. And of course the mountains! They are magnificent! The weather was superb. It was surprising to get such good weather in September — I thought it would be snowy. Next time we will go to Teriberka with the same team. But that will be in winter!
We went aurora hunting with the guys last year, and I loved the friendly atmosphere of the trip — it felt like a group of friends heading out for a photo hunt. Alexandra shared all sorts of interesting scientific facts and legends, we talked a lot, laughed and had a great time, and on top of it all we managed to catch the long-awaited aurora! The whole sky was glowing) The guys also knew which spots have less cloud cover, so our chances were high! I am attaching a photo, but in real life it is far more captivating, because all that glow shimmers in a bright dance — thank you, I definitely recommend it.
